We are rolling into the thick of vacation season, and taking weekend trips becomes the norm. Planning a weekend trip doesn’t have to be stressful (work is already stressful enough I’m sure), keep it simple but eventful.
Start with looking for destinations that are full of activities to choose from, this gives you the best opportunity to get more for your money. I found a great place in Charlotte, North Carolina that can easily fill up your day with excitement while keeping those coins tight.
Weekend At U.S. National Whitewater Center
On one Sunday I took off on a day trip headed to Charlotte, NC to experience a place I discovered online called the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
I was looking for a place to enjoy some outdoor activities and this placed randomly appeared during a google search.
Upon arrival I was beyond excited to try everything the facility had to offer. After filling out the “if you get injured or even die here, its not our fault” form I stood in line to purchase my AllSports Pass.
Word of advice, purchase your passes online at their website because if you intend to try your hand at whitewater rafting you can actually make a reservation for only $5.
Unfortunately I didn’t do that and by the time I purchased my pass the whitewater rafting experience was at capacity. So I ended up purchasing a CoolSports pass for $46.
Even though I was disappointed that I wouldn’t experience whitewater rafting for the first time, I didn’t let it ruin my day.
Activities For Everyone
Flat water kayaking, mountain biking and hiking trails, zip lining, ropes courses, paddle boarding, and obstacle courses are all among the many activities offered.
Adults and children will thoroughly enjoy all the activities to choose from. It really provides for a well-rounded outdoor experience.
If relaxing is what you prefer, then grab a kayak and leisurely paddle down the Catawba River.
Need a full body workout?? Try tackling the high ropes course, your upper body will hate you later.
I decided to channel my inner Super Woman while zip lining over the white water course. That was definitely the highlight of my day.
The center was extremely busy during my visit due to the holiday weekend but I still managed to have a great time.
For a weekend adventure I could not have picked a better place. If you happen to live in or nearby Charlotte, NC and you enjoy activities of this nature I suggest purchasing the AllSport Season Pass for $189 to access any activity during the season.
As I departed I was all smiles (with a mixture of hot, sweaty, and hungry).
I’m planning a future trip already, I absolutely have to cross white water rafting off my to-do list.
